Hem Singh Thakur grew up in the lap of the Himalayas and he belongs to them. A widely traveled person who has visited most states of India, he has assimilated global cultural ethos while working with people in India, Bhutan, Nepal, Hong Kong and New Zealand.
A multilingual adventure enthusiast, Hem believes that the magnificence and mysticism of the Himalayas should be experienced by as many nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers as possible. His experiences while organizing international health care programmes for USA based health organization. for the last 18 years in the remote regions of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttrakhand, Sikkim and West Bengal have not only brought him closer to his Himalayan roots but also given him firsthand knowledge of the conditions prevailing on the ground in these regions.
Hem has been awarded for exceptional contribution to promoting health awareness and providing medical care in these remote regions by the Flying Doctors of America.
He also chipped in to help when the Ladakh floods devastated the region in 2010. He was closely involved in the relief and rehabilitation work and arranged free cataract surgical camps for the old and poor people, while also arranging free cardiac surgeries at IGMC Shimla & AIIMS Delhi.
He has vast experience in handling overseas tourists in the high altitude hiking/trekking, medical expeditions & anthropology related ground trips and has conducted over 200 land safaris and hiking expeditions till date. In Hem you have a man for all seasons.
